The admission process will be started twice in the academic session 2024-25 in July-August and January-February. Not only this, now the campus placement drive will also be held twice a year. With this step, while students will get a chance to get admission twice a year, they will get a chance to get employment twice a year. Of course, every decision has some positives and some negatives.
Dr. Arya Patnaik, Secretary, Rourkela Institute of Management Studies, said that Indian universities and higher educational institutions will now be allowed to offer admissions twice a year on the lines of foreign universities. This will save time and students will also get more opportunities than before. Students who missed admission to a university in the July-August session due to delay in declaration of board exam results, health-related problems or personal reasons can now take admission in January-February as well. Speaking at the webinar, Dr. Purushottam Bang, Professor and Director, R. V Institute of Management, said that admission to universities twice a year will help students maintain motivation, as they did not have to wait for an entire year to get admission if they missed out on admission in the current session. Moderating the webinar, Ravish Roshan, Director, Centre for Education Growth and Research (CEGR), said that education is the cornerstone of the nation’s progress. As Indian higher education institutions adopt the bi-annual cycle of admissions, our higher education institutions can enhance their international collaborations and student exchanges. As a result, our global competitiveness will improve and we will be in line with global educational standards. It will not be mandatory for universities to give admissions twice a year and higher educational institutions that have the necessary infrastructure and teaching faculty can avail this opportunity.
