New Delhi. The UPSC prelims exam is scheduled to be held on June 16, 2024. CSAT, or Civil Services Aptitude Test, is the qualifying paper in the UPSC Prelims exam, also known as General Studies 2. The exam consists of two papers, out of which one is CSAT. This paper is slightly easier for candidates with a math background. If you are a UPSC candidate, you will be well aware of CSET. Candidates can qualify for the Mains exam only after clearing the CSAT and General Studies Paper 1. The CSAT is a qualifying paper, and its preparation requires a different approach compared to the General Studies paper. The paper consists of 80 questions and carries a total of 200 marks. The questions are of objective type and each question carries 2.5 marks. However, there is a negative marking of 1/3 rd for wrong answers. To pass the exam, candidates need to score 33 per cent or 66 marks. If you attempt only 30 per cent of the questions, you can still succeed, but for that you have to be 100 per cent right. CSAT is a scoring paper. CSEET, this exam was launched in 2011 to test the candidate’s reasoning, analytical knowledge and aptitude. This exam is also known as General Studies 2. To clear the UPSC exam, candidates have to go through three stages – Prelims, Mains and Interview. The CSAT exam is a part of the prelims.
