Sh. Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager Northern Railway held a review meeting with the departmental heads of Northern Railway and DRMs at Baroda House, NR headquarter office in New Delhi today. Amongst many issues deliberations were on Safety on tracks, enhancement of speed, train operations, Business Development Units and Freight loading. He also reviews the progress of mobility enhancement and other developmental infrastructure works and Freight loading.
The General Manager reviewed the progress of enhancement of passenger amenities work and projects of Doubling & New lines and instructed the concerned officials to expedite the work. Safety is the prime focus over Railways. The GM emphasized on improving the maintenance standards of tracks, level crossings and construction of boundary walls along the track in high speed sections. He advised all divisions to take all necessary remedial actions to proper & efficient working of signaling system.
He also emphasized on focusing on electrical safety on tracks, trains and premises. Enhancing speed of trains is a priority over the zone. Works should be expedited to complete the projects on time. The GM also took stock of the tree cutting activity and removal of vegetation alongside the tracks. He advised the departments to regularly conduct training and refresher courses for the staff to keep them motivated and informed of the working of the system to minimize human error.
He further said that the monitoring system of progress of construction projects should also be a prime focus area as the development/improvement of railways are very much dependent on these projects. He told department heads to expedite and complete the work in stipulated time in particular construction projects.
